What is scrumbling?

Freeform Crochet or scrumbling is like crazy patchwork but you use crocheted fragments to construct the "fabric:

The idea that in scrumbling, you are the designer and the manufacturer at the same time, is exciting.  You select the yarn, the hook, the stitch and the size of each fragment.  There are no rules so there are no mistakes.

Each item is an original.  Is there any better way to use all those "left over" balls of yarn, wool, threads?

You can make any item that could be constructed from textiles.
